From Rev. Dave’s Desktop:

Everyone enjoys long Summer days of uninterrupted reading. The summer also provides your preachers an opportunity to read and preach all, or most, of one book of the Bible. This summer our Lectionary, or schedule of readings, features Paul’s Letter to the Romans. So we will preach a summer-long uninterrupted series, called When in Romans. I am now away for a family wedding and vacation, returning on August 17th. I am very grateful for the Rev. Roger Sonnesyn who will lead worship and preach this Sunday.

What is F3?

Fun, Fellowship and Fundraising (F3) is our newly reconfigured group that oversees three excellent events for St. Martin’s.

Fall FunFest

An event for the whole family at Minnetonka Orchards. On Saturday, September 23rd from 3:30 -7 pm we will gather as a community for food, fun and square-dancing. We will have a dunk tank for Rev. An evening of spaghetti and BINGO it is a fun event for all ages. Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 10 for this terrific new event!

Spring GALA

In a beautiful setting, this evening will be filled with good food and music. There will be silent auction items that you can bid on along with our Wall of Wine. Mark your calendars as you won’t want to miss this one! Saturday, May 5th

Strategic Plan Action Item.

Announcing our next Curate, the Rev. Jason Cutshall

Jason is a native Minnesotan, who has been ordained a Transitional Deacon this Summer in the Diocese of Virginia, and will be ordained a Priest of the Episcopal Church in January. He comes to us with a wealth of experience in various ministries. The Rev. Deacon Cutshall will be our second Rev. Richard Byrd Memorial Curate. With great gratitude to Jacqueline Byrd, the many contributors to the Rev. Richard Byrd Memorial Fund and our St. Martin’s Foundation Board, the Curacy is an essential addition to the life of our Church. Jason says this about his life and calling:

“I grew up in Eden Prairie and have lived all over the metro area. I have worked in ministry settings for 20+ years holding a myriad of different positions in different faith traditions on two continents. I have traveled to over 30 countries on 4 continents, I've lived in the Netherlands and Arlington, VA. I became an Episcopalian in 2012 and discerned a call to priesthood shortly thereafter. The Anglican tradition has a core emphasis on relationship above doctrine and that resonates with my faith journey. Worship is the heart of the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, everything flows out of our worship. We believe we are shaped by how we pray. Liturgy has been a formative practice in my spiritual life and I am humbled to be called to lead as a priest. My wife Cecily is a gov't contractor with a background in teaching and conflict resolution. We have two sons, Henning (3) and Soren (1). Henning enjoys any musical instrument he can get his hands on, especially an organ. Soren is happy to be here and is usually the life of the party. We are expecting our third child in February 2018. I was ordained a transitional-deacon in June 2017 and will be ordained a priest January 2018. I view my call as a priest as one who points people to God in every aspect of life.”

We will welcome Rev. Jason, Cecily, Henning and Soren in September. In the meantime, let us commit to prayer for this fine family and Jason’s ministry with us.

With every blessing,

Rev. Dave Langille / Rector

A Prayer for Renewal.

Lord God

renew your Church

and begin with me,

heal our land

tend our wounds

and make us one,

and use us in your service;

For Jesus Christ’s sake

Lord of the Church,

make us the Church of the Lord.

You can now Run, Walk, Bike, Roller-blade, Drive and even BOAT to Church.

Thanks to our Communication’s Team, who have worked very hard to promote our Church to the Community, we now have TWO, count 'em, TWO, Day-Use Docks.

Our Docks are installed across from the Church parking lot; do look for the St. Martin's sign. Two things to remember:

1) The Dock is for the day-use of St. Martin’s members and our guests; so come to Church by boat.

2) For families with children, children under the age of 12 will need to to be accompanied by an adult at all times crossing Shoreline Drive.

I am grateful for those who count the calling to the Diaconate and Priesthood their vocation; and their willingness to serve here at St. Martin's by the Lake alongside me as well. From this Sunday on throughout the Summer you will usually see me and the Rev. Deacon Cindy Hillger with you on Sundays. If one of us is away on vacation you will see one of our two Assisting priests, the Rev's. Roger Sonnesyn and Jeff Hupf.

Just a reminder that Fr. Jeff is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and is available to meet members of St. Martin's through his practice. Please make arrangements through his Office: 952-446-6115. (For more info on his practice: We will also update you on our plans for the Rev. Richard Byrd Memorial Curacy in the near future.
